SOD.AI SOCIAL: Computer Vision in Production

We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to the first SOD.AI Social Virtual event, the theme of our running events will be on the topic of Computer Vision in production.
We will be speaking our expert panel from the Computer Vision industry, where we will discuss how they are using Computer Vision in production, the technologies they have had success with and challenges they are facing. We will apply this to various computer vision softwares; which will include, OpenCV, Image Detection Technologies, Video Detection Technologies, 3D, Medical Imaging, Autonomous Driving, NVIDIA products and other hardware, Embedded Software.

Naja von Schnmude
Dr. Naja von Schmude is CTO and founder of Peregrine Technologies GmbH (peregrine.ai), where she shapes the development of Peregrine’s computer vision-based products. Naja holds a PhD from Heidelberg University in computer science with a focus on computer vision applications in robotics and autonomous driving. She has 5 years of experience in R&D at Bosch in Germany and Palo Alto, US. Before founding Peregrine, she led TomTom’s localisation ambitions in the autonomous driving research unit as a senior software engineer.
Evengii is a Full Stack ML Engineer with a focus on delivering ML research to production. Among successful projects: building OCR and OMR engines to recognize text on documents, NSFW content detection model for ad-tech, Selfie Style-transfer. He is currently working at Zalando SE on building Size Recommendation models by utilizing various data sources, including purchase histories, article images, and meta-data.
Deepthi Sreenivasaiah is a machine learning engineer at Merantix Labs, an AI start-up based in Berlin. In her current role at Merantix Labs, she enjoys using her skills to apply exciting results in research to real industrial projects. She is a recent graduate from the Technical University of Stuttgart with a master’s degree in Information Technology. A can-do attitude helps her to be motivated in life. In her free time, she likes to travel, practice yoga, and cook spicy Indian food.
Dr. Furqan Ullah
Furqan is currently working as a Senior Lead Software Engineer in Germany. He has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, Dhofar University (DU), Oman from 2017 to 2018. Before joining DU, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Punjab, Pakistan, where he taught Visual Computing, Computer Graphics, and Object-Oriented Paradigm courses, as well as handling some research projects in the domain of computer vision and graphics. He was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), University of California Berkeley, US from 2015 to 2016 where he gained experience in collaborating with Stanford, UC Davis, UCSF, Amazon, Siemens, and two startups.
